It has a number of features that enable it to rival some of the better known programs on the market. I use OpenToonz in Linux and it works great. Verdict: Krita is one of the best drawing and painting art software programs on the market today. It had roughly 24 years of development time and continues on in open source development. You won't find a more complete open source animation program. The program went open source in 2016 and has an amazing amount of animation features, including raster, vector, raster to vector conversion, tweening, skeleton based animation, mesh animation tool, effects plug-ins and other things. Steven Universe currently uses Toonz/ OpenToonz. Steven Spielberg's old animation companies even used in films like Balto and Anastasia. Like Clip Studio Paint, It improves Photoshop’s drawing tools, offering many of the same killer features as well as a few I’ve never. It’s so full-fledged that University Paris 8’s art department ditched Photoshop for it in 2015, and it’s more user-friendly than GIMP. Rough Draft Studios also used it for Futurama. Krita is a free, open-source digital painting program. Toonz was used by companies like Studio Ghibli on animated movies like Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle and others. OpenToonz is a really interesting animation program, it actually started development in the early '90s under the name 'Toonz' and was originally designed to work with the IRIX operating system for Silicon Graphics workstations, but was later ported to the Windows platform. As for size, it depends what you’re used to. If not then the driver/etc is easy enough to get from the Wacom site. I think that Windows 10 will recognise it and download/install the Wacom drivers and tablet management utilities for you as well. If you want to add an animation program to that collection, I highly suggest OpenToonz. My five year old Wacom Intuos Draw works fine on Windows 10 and Linux. There are scads more, but these are probably the most functional, user-friendly, and production ready. Ey, are a few interesting (read: actually functional) CrossPlat production/design software projects for potential future review:
